Baba Jibo Ibrahim, the Public Relations Officer for Kano Courts, announced that the committee established to inventory the items looted during the attack on the Kano State High Court has not recovered several exhibits, including a firearm.
This statement was made during a briefing with journalists on Monday.
He said, “Up till this moment that we are taking, the statistics of the exhibits that have not been recovered are many including a gun. We are still compiling the list of the exhibits to take inventory.
“A committee has been set up to do that and they are still working to compile their report.”
The looting occurred on the first day of protests and resulted in significant damage and theft of valuables at the High Court located at the Audu Bako Secretariat.
The incident has raised concerns about public safety and the security of court properties.
In response to the situation, Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the police spokesman in Kano, urged the public to remain vigilant. He advised people to avoid large crowds and report any suspicious activities or unfamiliar individuals to the authorities. The police’s call for caution comes amid efforts to ensure that order and safety are maintained in the aftermath of the unrest.
