Prosecute Rep Ikwechegh for Threat to Life, Attempted Murder – Lawyers Petition IGP

Lawyer Deji Adeyanju has filed a petition on behalf of Stephen Abuwatseya, a cab driver allegedly assaulted by a House of Representatives member from Abia State, Alexander Mascot Ikwechegh.

The petition, directed to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, urges the IGP to investigate and prosecute Ikwechegh for “grievous assault, abuse of power, attempted murder, and threat to life.”

Signed by Marvin Omorogbe, a founding partner at the law firm Deji Adeyanju and Partners, the petition calls for justice, stating, “We kindly request that you cause an investigation into the issues raised with a view to prosecuting Hon. Alex Mascot Ikwechegh.”

The incident reportedly occurred in the Maitama area of Abuja, where Abuwatseya was delivering a package to Ikwechegh’s residence.

During the encounter, Ikwechegh allegedly threatened Abuwatseya, stating he could make the cab driver “disappear” without repercussions. He also allegedly threatened to beat and detain Abuwatseya in his generator house.
