Managing Partner of Probitas Partners LLP, ‘Wale Irokosu, has endorsed Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe, SAN, for the office of President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), citing what he described as the candidate’s proven record of leadership, commitment to lawyers’ welfare, and clear vision for the future of the Association.
In his endorsement, Irokosu stated that his support for Akangbe was based on a verifiable track record of achievements, consistency in service, and practical proposals aimed at strengthening the welfare of legal practitioners, rather than personal relationships.
According to him, Akangbe’s campaign has placed lawyers’ welfare at the centre of the 2026 NBA presidential election by advocating measures to institutionalise welfare programmes introduced during the 2020–2022 NBA administration, with the objective of ensuring that such initiatives are sustained through institutional processes.
He further observed that Akangbe’s campaign has shifted attention towards candidates’ records and policy proposals, encouraging a more issue-based contest focused on measurable performance and practical solutions for the legal profession.
Describing Akangbe as a leader with the passion and determination to improve the welfare of lawyers, Irokosu expressed confidence in his capacity to lead the Association and called on members of the Bar to support his candidacy in the forthcoming NBA presidential election.

I wish to unreservedly endorse Mr. Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe for election as the next President of the Nigerian Bar Association.
This is not because he is my friend but because of his verifiable and credible track record of achievements; clarity of plans for lawyers’ welfare; consistency; and, the paradigm and generational change in leadership that he represents.
Frankly speaking, Yemi is running to undo the damage done to the welfare programmes implemented between 2020-2022 under the Olumide Akpata’s NBA presidency. He wants to institutionalize them so no successive NBA President would set them aside unilaterally, without the National Executive Council of the NBA.
Even before going to the polls for the 2026 election, Yemi has forced the other two senior contenders to present and compete on their respective lawyers welfare plans. He’s forcing everyone to run on their records and not on promises. Watching from the ringside, I am more convinced of his suitability for the post with the zeal and passion that he has exhibited in his campaign for the welfare of lawyers. Not a few are in awe of his commitment to the betterment of others based on unsolicited testimonials .
Once again, vote Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe for a Nigerian Bar Association that works for all.
