President Tinubu Declines Assent to Transport Technology Bill, Citing Legal Defects

President Bola Tinubu has denied assent to the bill for the establishment of Nigeria Institute for Transport Technology citing constitutional defects.

In a letter to the Senate on Tuesday, President Tinubu explained that the bill is not in consonance with certain provisions of the law especially with regards to borrowing.

According to him the aspect of the bill that empowers the management of the institute to access funds may lead to financial abuse if not properly stated.

In his remarks, the President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio thanked Tinubu for being able to identify the flaws in the Bill and thereafter referred it to the committee of the whole for more legislative work.
