President Muhammadu Buhari has landed in Madrid, the capital city of Spain.
Buhari’s visit to the North American nation is at the behest of the Spanish President, Pedro Sanchez who invited him for the state visit.
The president left Nigeria on Tuesday afternoon through the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja and his aircraft landed at the Torrejon Airbase in Madrid at 10 p.m. (local time).
President Buhari was greeted by officials of the Spanish government and the leadership of the Nigerian Embassy in Spain.
The visit is the first since the ruling All Progressives Party (APC) assumed power in 2015 and it Buhari will meet the Head of State of the Spanish nation, His Majesty King Felipe VI, and members of the Nigerian community.
He will also sign agreements and memoranda of understanding aimed at further enhancing the bilateral relations between the two countries.
President Buhari will be in attendance at the Investment Forum jointly organised by the Spanish Chamber of Commerce, the Ministry of Trade, and the Confederation of Employers (CEOE).
The Nigerian leader is expected to be back in the country on June 3.
