Val Obienyem, media adviser to Peter Obi, has refuted claims that the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate was arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) in Anambra State.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Obienyem dismissed the reports as completely false, explaining that Obi was not even in Anambra at the time of the alleged incident.
“Mr. Obi was in Rwanda for important engagements and has since returned to Nigeria, currently in Edo State for party and national matters,” Obienyem clarified. He further stated that no DSS operation took place at Obi’s residence, and no arrest was made.
The media adviser also debunked rumors about the arrest of Obi’s wife, labeling the reports as deliberate misinformation designed to mislead the public. Obienyem urged the public to disregard the rumors and emphasized that any official updates regarding Peter Obi would be communicated through the appropriate channels.
