According to the Presidential Election Petitions Court, the Labour Party (LP) and Peter Obi, its presidential candidate, failed to explain how they received the majority of valid votes in the February 25 presidential election.
Specifically in Rivers, Benue, Lagos, Taraba, Imo, and Osun states, the political party made general accusations of irregularities, the suppression of votes, and corrupt tactics to steal their votes, according to the lead judgment read by Justice Abba Bello Mohammed, but it did not identify the polling places affected.
Justice Mohammed further held that LP also failed to prove the allegations of overvoting against the All Progressives Congress (APC) and their actual reduced votes.
