PDP Chieftain Blasts Judge Agomoh for Exceeding Mandate in Court Ruling

A leading figure of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Umar Sani, has criticized Justice Uche Agomoh for allegedly overstepping her judicial authority in the party’s ongoing internal crisis.

Speaking to journalists about the fallout from the Ibadan court ruling, Sani clarified that the PDP did not celebrate the judgment because the party was not the initiator of the case.

“I never celebrated the Ibadan court’s judgment—not because it wasn’t worth celebrating—but because we were not the ones who filed the matter in court,” Sani said.

He explained that the lawsuit was originally filed by a contestant vying for the position of Deputy National Organizing Secretary. “Even if the judgment favors our faction, the fact that we did not initiate the suit makes it clear that we are not complicit in seeking or procuring a High Court ruling in Ibadan,” he added.

Sani emphasized that the party had approached the courts only to obtain a specific legal remedy—an order of mandamus—from the Federal High Court in Ibadan.

“The only case we brought before the court was for an order of mandamus, which Justice Agomoh ruled against us,” he said. “Her ruling went beyond the scope of what was requested. She gave more than what was sought, acting almost like a ‘Father Christmas.’ We will challenge this decision.”
