As Christians across the globe mark Palm Sunday, commemorating the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem, former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Lagos Branch, Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe, SAN, FCIArb(UK), has issued a reflective message to members of the legal profession.
In his goodwill message addressed to learned silks, seniors, and colleagues, Akangbe described the occasion as a moment that embodies peace, humility, and devotion to a higher calling. Drawing a parallel between the spiritual significance of Palm Sunday and the duties of legal practitioners, he urged lawyers to remain steadfast in their commitment to justice, fairness, and integrity.
“In the same spirit,” he said, “we, as legal practitioners, are called to be torchbearers of justice, fairness, and integrity. May this sacred season renew our strength, deepen our resolve, and inspire us to uphold the rule of law with compassion and purpose.”
