The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has announced the official results of its 2026 National Officers Election, with Oyinkansola Badejo-Okusanya, SAN, emerging as the newly elected President of the Association after polling 12,317 votes (47.18%).
Badejo-Okusanya defeated Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe, SAN, who secured 7,934 votes (30.39%), and Olumuyiwa Akinboro, SAN, who polled 5,855 votes (22.43%). Her victory ushers in a new leadership team that will steer the affairs of the NBA for the next administration.
In the race for General Secretary, Afam O. Okeke emerged victorious with 8,478 votes (33.58%), defeating Dr. Rapulu Ernest Nduka (6,188 votes), Chidi Ezenwafor (4,560 votes), Okey Leo Ohagba (4,100 votes), Nnaebuka Onyebuchi Nwaeze (1,147 votes), and Barth Okoye-Aniche (772 votes).
Other winners include Chief Oghenero Okoro as First Vice-President, Egya Nuhu John as Second Vice-President (unopposed), Pepple Iniobong Irene as Third Vice-President (unopposed), Aghogho Gladys Okpomor as Assistant General Secretary, Esther Ifeoma Jimoh as Treasurer (unopposed), Audrey Chinelo Ofoegbunam as Welfare Secretary, Dr. Prince I. Azubuike as Publicity Secretary, and Hadiza Nasir Ahmad as Assistant Publicity Secretary.
For the zonal representative positions, Chidi Betsy Nnaji emerged winner for the Eastern Zone, Rotimi Komolafe won the Western Zone seat, while Huwaila Muhammad Ibrahim secured victory as Northern Zone Representative, completing the composition of the newly elected NBA National Executive Committee.
