The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court to launch a formal investigation into what it describes as “irregularities” surrounding the ongoing legal battle over the state’s Local Government Council crisis.
The controversy stems from a lawsuit filed by the Osun State Government at the Federal High Court in Osogbo, seeking to prevent the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) from releasing allocations to local government officials elected under the All Progressives Congress (APC). However, recent developments in the case have raised concerns within the PDP over the integrity of judicial procedures.
In a press briefing held Thursday in Osogbo, PDP Chairman in Osun, Sunday Bisi, expressed alarm over the involvement of individuals allegedly posing as judicial officers in the handling of the case.
According to Bisi: “We, the People’s Democratic Party in Osun State, therefore call on the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court to immediately probe these irregularities. He must investigate how and why persons, purportedly working in his office, who are not judicial officers, are signing letters that carry the force of judicial authority.”
The case reportedly took another turn when it was allegedly reassigned to Abuja, a move the Osun State Government has strongly condemned, accusing unnamed actors of attempting to manipulate judicial outcomes.
