The candidate for the office of General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Okey Leo Ohagba, Esq., has extended warm felicitations to the NBA Ikeja Branch, popularly known as the “Tiger Bar,” as the branch marks its 2026 Law Week. In a goodwill message, Ohagba congratulated the Adeniyi Quadri-led Executive Committee, the Law Week Planning Committee, and the entire membership of the branch for organizing what he described as another significant platform for intellectual engagement and professional development.
Commenting on the theme of the 2026 Law Week, “Altering the Status Quo: Going Against the Norm,” the NBA General Secretary hopeful praised the branch for choosing a topic that reflects its longstanding reputation for advocacy, activism, and the promotion of the rule of law. He noted that the theme serves as a timely call for lawyers and stakeholders in the justice sector to embrace bold ideas, challenge outdated practices, and champion meaningful systemic reforms capable of strengthening both the legal profession and the nation at large.

– URGES FIERCER, EMBOLDENED SYSTEMIC REFORMS
I heartily felicitate the Adeniyi Quadri-led Executive Committee, the Planning Committee, and the entire membership of the Nigerian Bar Association, Ikeja Branch on this momentous occasion of your 2026 Law Week.
Your carefully chosen theme, “Altering the Status Quo: Going Against the Norm,” perfectly mirrors the Tiger Bar’s legendary pedigree of fierce activism for the Rule of Law and social justice. The theme challenges the legal profession to break away from archaic patterns and be more emboldened at championing systemic reforms within our society.
I commend the innovative leadership of the Branch for offering yet another soul-lifting platform for intellectual discourse.
May our deliberations yield positive outcomes for our Bar, our profession, and our country, Nigeria.
LET’S INNOVATE! 👌🏻
With compliments,
Okey Leo Ohagba, Esq.
