BY OKEY LEO OHAGBA – CANDIDATE FOR NBA GENERAL SECRETARY
Candidate for the office of General Secretary of the Nigerian Bar Association, Okey Leo Ohagba, has congratulated the leadership and members of the Egbe Amofin O’odua on the occasion of their 2026 Osun National Conference holding in Ile-Ife. In a message of felicitation, Ohagba commended the Executive Committee led by Isiaka Abiola Olagunju for convening the conference and creating a platform for meaningful engagement on issues affecting the legal profession and national development.
He described the conference theme, “Advancing Constitutional Democracy, Accountability and Responsible Governance: The Role of Lawyers,” as timely and highly relevant, particularly at a period when democratic institutions and governance structures require continuous strengthening. According to him, lawyers have a constitutional and professional responsibility to actively defend justice, uphold the rule of law, and promote accountability in public affairs rather than remain passive observers in the nation’s democratic journey.
Ohagba expressed confidence that the gathering of distinguished legal minds would produce practical recommendations capable of advancing constitutional democracy, improving governance standards, and reinforcing the legal profession’s role as a guardian of justice and institutional integrity. He wished participants fruitful deliberations and a successful conference, while expressing optimism that the outcomes of the event would positively impact the Bar, the legal profession, and Nigeria as a whole.

A NOTE OF FELICITATION
BY OKEY LEO OHAGBA- CANDIDATE FOR THE OFFICE OF NBA GENERAL SECRETARY.
I warmly congratulate the Aare Isiaka Abiola Olagunju, SAN-led Executive Committee, the Planning Committee, and the entire membership of the revered Egbe Amofin O’odua on your 2026 Osun National Conference, holding in the historic city of Ile-Ife, Osun State.
Your theme, “Advancing Constitutional Democracy, Accountability and Responsible Governance: The Role of Lawyers,” is remarkably timely. At this critical intersection of our socio-political history, our democracy cannot thrive on mere rhetoric. It requires the active, courageous intervention of legal minds who refuse to sit on the sidelines.
By gathering to deliberate on these pillars of statehood, we are re-echoing our collective professional responsibility to actively defend justice and demand responsive governance from public institutions.
I am entirely confident that the rich legal minds assembled will fashion out pragmatic blueprints to steer our Bar and our nation toward a path of lasting administrative integrity and ethical leadership.
May our deliberations yield positive outcomes for our Bar, profession, and country Nigeria.
LET’S INNOVATE!
With compliments,
Okey Leo Ohagba, Esq.
