NUT Demands Adequate Funding for Nigeria’s Education Sector

The National President of Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Mr. Audu Amba, on Saturday demanded adequate funding for the country’s education sector.

Amba made the call in Ibadan, Oyo State, during the celebration of the 2024 World Teachers’ Day in the state.

The NUT President, who was represented at the event by another official of the union, Mr. Isa Shuaib, said 23 states in the country have so far implemented the new 65 years retirement age and 40 years in service for teachers.

“Adequate funding of the education sector will help in enhancing the sector, for it to be better and effective, especially in the area of policy formulation.”

”I urge the remaining 13 states and the FCT that are yet to implement the new retirement age for teachers to do so too,” Amba said.
