Northern Network Dismisses Claims of Genocide in Nigeria

The Northern Awareness Network (NAN) has dismissed claims of genocide against Christians in Nigeria, describing them as misleading and harmful to national unity.

In a statement signed by its Chairman, Salihu Sulaiman, the Group said insecurity in Nigeria is driven by political, ethnic, and economic factors rather than religious persecution.

It noted that portraying the crisis as a campaign of extermination against Christians distorts reality and risks deepening national divisions.

NAN stated that violent attacks across the country have affected both Muslims and Christians, with extremist groups such as Boko Haram and ISWAP targeting individuals indiscriminately.

The group urged international observers to approach the situation with balance and understanding.

The group emphasized the need for diplomacy, dialogue, and peacebuilding to strengthen democratic governance and promote peaceful coexistence among Nigerians.
