Olufemi Soneye, the Spokesperson for the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), clarified in an exclusive interview on Tuesday that he is not aware of any recent increase in the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) pump price across NNPCL retail outlets.
This statement came amidst rumors that NNPCL had raised the fuel pump price in Abuja from N1,030 to N1,060 per liter.
Soneye addressed the speculation, stating, “There is no increase in gasoline price that I am aware of.” Chinedu Ukadike, spokesperson for the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), echoed this position, confirming that NNPCL’s ex-depot price remains unchanged.
“For independent marketers, we have experienced a fresh price hike as I am speaking with you. NNPCL still sells to us at the same price.
“For Port Harcourt, it is N1040 per litre; Abuja and Lagos are around N990 per litre,” said on Tuesday.
Earlier, the President of Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote, said petroleum marketers are ignoring its refinery’s 500 million litres of fuel.
