Nnamdi Kanu’s Family Sacks Lawyers

All of the legal counsel for Nnamdi Kanu, the imprisoned leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), has been sacked by his family.

This was announced in a press statement on Thursday by Kanunta Kanu, the IPOB leader’s younger brother.

He mentioned the dismissal of Kanu’s lawyers Prof. Mike Ozekhome (SAN) and Barr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor.

He said that the change came about as a result of the lawyers’ inability to visit their client, who was being held at the Department of State Services (DSS) Headquarters in Abuja.

Additionally, he claimed that the lawyers had prevented the hiring of doctors who were supposed to treat the secessionist in DSS custody.

“After Nnadmi Kanu’s case on 11th May 2023, Prof Mike Ozekhome SAN has refused to see his client in DSS headquarters Abuja even after several messages from MNK to see him.

“Secondly, for stopping the medical doctors who were to examine MNK on 5th June even when he and Barr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor were duly informed on 2nd June and MNK told them to inform his family to arrange that.

“For those obvious reasons and many more, Prof Mike Ozekhome SAN and Bar. Ifeanyi Ejiofor are hereby sacked as Nnamdi Kanu’s Counsels.

“The Kanu family do appreciate your time and efforts so far, please hand over the legal documents as soon as possible”, he said
