Nigeria has expressed satisfaction with the progress of its relations with China throughout 2025, highlighting the gains of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established by President Bola Tinubu and President Xi Jinping during Tinubu’s state visit to Beijing in September 2024.
In a statement issued Wednesday by the Nigeria–China Strategic Partnership, officials noted that bilateral cooperation had deepened across political, economic, and technical spheres, reinforcing ties built on mutual respect, shared interests, and development collaboration.
Over the past year, both nations expanded cooperation in key areas such as infrastructure development, trade and investment, industrial capacity building, technology transfer, and cultural exchange. These engagements, the statement said, strengthened institutional frameworks and created a more structured basis for achieving mutually beneficial outcomes.
Nigeria reaffirmed that its foreign policy approach remains anchored on respect for sovereignty and territorial integrity, stressing continued adherence to the One-China principle as the foundation of its relations with Beijing.
Looking ahead, Nigeria pledged to consolidate and deepen the partnership in practical, results-driven ways. Priority will be placed on initiatives that support Nigeria’s development agenda, including economic diversification, infrastructure delivery, human capital growth, and sustainability.
The Director-General and Global Liaison of the Nigeria–China Strategic Partnership, Joseph Tegbe, expressed optimism that cooperation between the two countries would continue to mature, advancing the vision of a China–Nigeria community with a shared future.
