Coordinators of the various Niger Delta Youth Bodies in Imo State have lauded the leadership of the 7th Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC under Barr Chiedu Ebie as Chairman and Dr Samuel Ogbuku as Managing Director, describing them as friends of the Niger Delta youths. The Coordinators of the various youth bodies which include the Niger Delta Youth Movement NDYM, Comrade Charles Oringo, Reformed Niger Delta Youth Movement RNDYM, Comrade Godwin Eganasi, Elders Youth Council of Ohaji/Egbema, Oguta and Oru East, Mayor Sixtus Odinaka, Mayor of the Niger Delta, General Carlos, Ben Akeru, HOSCON Coordinator, Niger Delta Grassroot Women, and a host if other who had benefitted from the NDDC Christmas Largesse in Imo thanked the President for choosing a God fearing man who has the interest of the youths in the person of Honourable Dr Kyrian Chidiebere Uchegbu as the Imo State Representative on the NDDC Board.
In a communique signed by the various Cordinators of the Youth bodies, they expressed their unalloyed support and commitment to the leadership of Hon Dr Uchegbu and pledged their total commitment to the advancement of the welfare of the youths through capacity building as one of the cardinal points of the interventionist agency while appreciating the leadership acumen of the Chiedu Ebie led Governing Board. Similarly, the youth bodies expressed in clear terms their unwavering support and loyalty to the President Bola Ahmed Renewed Hope Mantra which is in tandem with Governor Hope Uzodimma’s 3R Government of Rehabilitation, Recovery and Reconstruction.
They youth bodies expressed discontentment over the actions of some elements who out of avarice and for the fact that the Christmas largesse was not given to them to share in hotels but was rather handed over to the real Youths, a situation, they maintained, was responsible for the peace, security and tranquility in the Niger Delta regions of Imo State, they sent one or two kleptomaniacs like them to impugn on the hard earned reputation of Hon Uchegbu who they said, remains the best representative Imo has ever had in the Commission.
They warned in clear terms that they will not tolerate from any individual no matter how highly placed, any individual who, either by himself or through whose cronies, writes or says any malicious or libellous or seditious publications against the youth friendly Commissioner, saying that gone were the days when NDDC monies, packages and programmes were shared, disbursed and enjoyed by one individual and his cohorts.
They argued that NDDC is for the entire Imo State and the aim for its establishment was to better the lots of the people and assuage or mitigate the effects of oil exploration in the State through projects, seminars, empowerment, training and retraining but never for self aggrandizement.
The Youth bodies promised to mobilize all their members who were beneficiaries of the yearly Christmas Packages in Imo against any individual who stands up against Imo Representative, Dr Uchegbu, Governor Hope Uzodimma and President Hope Uzodimma.
