The Chairperson of the Nigerian Bar Association Women Forum has called on her female colleagues to go through proper mentorship for confidence boost.
In her Keynote address during her visit to Bayelsa Chapter, Mrs. Okorocha highlighted the need for mentorship, training and peer to peer networking amongst female lawyers, which will assist in confidence building and overcoming limiting beliefs that hold them back.
The event also featured some courtesy visits to important personalities within the state. Firstly the Chairperson and her entourage paid a courtesy call on the First Lady of Bayelsa State, Her Excellency Mrs. Gloria Diri. The Chairperson, Mrs Okorocha shared key insights about the activities of the forum since inception and its focus on mentorship, training and career advancement of the female lawyer being high on the agenda. In her response, Her Excellency welcomed the delegation and assured them of her desire to collaborate with the forum more strategically going forward, as their mandate tied in quite well with her initiatives, particularly with her TWOT Gloria Diri foundation
They also paid a visit to the Chief Judge of Bayelsa State, Hon. Justice Abrakassa Ayemieye, at her official chambers. The delegation was warmly received and the Chairperson was able to intimate the Hon Chief Judge about the terms of reference of the forum, whilst highlighting the difference in mandate between NBAWF and FIDA Nigeria. In her response, the Hon CJ warmly welcomed the delegation, whilst offering motherly advice for all female professionals looking for advancement in their careers, both in the judiciary and the ministry of justice. She assured them that she would do her best to support the forum’s initiatives going forward.
The delegation also visited the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), where they were warmly received by the Executive Secretary, Mr. Felix Omatsola Ogbe, who received the delegation warmly and assured them of his commitment to support the forum with their future initiatives.
