The Nigerian Bar Association Women Forum (NBAWF) recently hosted a press briefing on Friday, 15th March 2024, offering a glimpse into their eagerly anticipated 4thannual general conference and International Women’s Day event.
Led by Mrs. Chinyere Okorocha, Chairperson of the Forum, the briefing unveiled the theme of the conference: “Beyond the Balance Sheet: Redefining Success for Women in Law.” Set to take place on Friday, March 22, 2024, at the prestigious Oriental Hotel in Lagos, the conference promises to be a pivotal moment for women in the legal profession.
Mrs. Okorocha emphasized the core objectives of the NBAWF, highlighting its commitment to addressing issues affecting female lawyers in Nigeria. From empowerment initiatives to advocating for gender equity, the Forum stands as a beacon of support and guidance for women in the legal field.
With a robust organizational structure comprising a Governing Council, Committee Heads, branch facilitators, and state leads, the NBAWF is poised to make a significant impact. Through advocacy, mentorship programs, workshops, and conferences, the forum aims to provide innovative solutions to key challenges faced by female lawyers, including career growth, leadership development, and work-life balance.
Mrs. Folashade Alli, Chair of the Conference Planning Committee, provided insights into the conference’s agenda. Featuring over 32 speakers across six plenary sessions, topics range from fostering a supportive professional ecosystem to mastering personal branding and navigating the path to career success. The keynote address, to be delivered by the CEO of BOP Productions/Terra Kulture, Mrs Bolanle Austen-Peters, promises to inspire and enlighten attendees.
Logistics Head, Kemi Adesojaye, assured attendees of seamless arrangements, including discounted hotel accommodations. Additionally, Ifeoma Ben, Head of Fundraising, expressed gratitude to sponsors and encouraged interested participants to register for the conference.
In a gesture of inclusivity, Mrs. Alli announced plans to sponsor university and law school students, ensuring that the conference reaches and benefits aspiring legal professionals.
The Conference which kickstarts with a Cocktail on the 21st of March, 2022 will be brought to a close with a Dinner, to be chaired by Mrs Funke Adekoya, SAN.
