The Nigerian Bar Association Section on Public Interest and Development Law (NBA-SPIDEL) has announced a call for entries for its 2026 Essay, Poetry & Spoken Word Competition.
The competition is designed as one of the highlights of its 2026 Annual Conference which will hold in Umuahia, Abia State from 9th to 13th November, 2026. The winners will receive their prizes during the conference.
The 2026 NBA-SPIDEL Annual Conference is scheduled to hold at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia, Abia State. The theme for the Conference is “IN PUBLIC INTEREST: ADVANCING JUSTICE, DEMOCRACY AND DEVELOPMENT”.
The Competition is open in two categories: Young Lawyers Category and Law Students Category.
SUBMISSION GUIDELINE
A. YOUNG LAWYERS CATEGORY:
Essay Writing: Analytical or Argumentative Essay (1500-2000 word)
Poetry: Original Poems (Max: 40 lines)
Spoken Words Performance: Audio or Video Presentation (3 min max)
B. LAW STUDENTS CATEGORY:
Essay Writing: 1000-1500 words, well researched and original essay
Poetry: Original Composition (Max: 40 lines)
Spoken Words Performance: Recorded Audio/Video Presentation (3min max)
PRIZES
1st Prize: N75,000
2nd Prize: N50,000
3rd Prize: 25,000
