INVITATION TO ATTEND THE NBA-SBL WORKSHOP ON NATIONAL HEALTH INSURANCE AUTHORITY (NHIA) ACT, 2022

Greetings. I trust this mail meets you well.
You will recall that on the 19th of May 2022, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria signed into law the National Health Insurance Authority Act (NHIA) thus repealing the old law, the National Health Insurance Scheme Act, 2004. The new Act introduced some innovations and made health insurance universal and compulsory. These and other issues embedded in the Act concern the existing operators of health insurance schemes. They are now considered supplemental or secondary providers whilst the envisaged State Health Insurance Authorities are now saddled with the responsibility of being primary health insurance providers.
In view of this, the NBA-SBL Insurance and Pensions Committee chaired by Mr. Kamar Raji will be organizing a Workshop (Hybrid) to bring together its members and critical stakeholders (regulators and operators) of this sector to x-ray the NHIA on Tuesday, 4th October, 2022 at 9.00am at the Westwood Hotel, Ikoyi, Lagos.
