NBA PRESIDENT DISSOLVES STANDING AND AD HOC COMMITTEES, SETS UP TRANSITION COMMITTEE

Following the decision of the National Executive Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association to dissolve all Standing and Ad Hoc Committees of the Association (with the exception of the Technical Committee of Conference Planning and the Electoral Committee), the NBA President has, ahead of the expiration of the tenure of the National Executive Committee on Friday, 26th August 2022, dissolved all Standing and Ad Hoc committees.

This was contained in a Letter sighted by lawhauz dated 16 August 2022:

Dear Gentlemen,

I trust that you are all doing well. I write presently to inform you of the decision of the National Executive Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association to dissolve all standing and Ad-Hoc Committees of the Association, with the exception of the Technical Committee of Conference Planning and the Electoral Committee of The Nigerian Bar Association, ahead of the expiration of our tenure in office on Friday 26th August 2022.

In this regard the following committees hereby stand dissolved with effect from today Tuesday 16th August 2022;
Anti-Corruption Committee
Disciplinary Committee
Human Rights Committee
Future Of Legal Practice Committee
Digital NBA Committee
Dispute Resolution Committee
Editorial Committee
Security Agencies Relations Committee
General Purposes Committee
Sports & Recreation Committee
Legal Education Committee
Constitution Review Committee
Mama-San Project
Council Members Of Lawyers With Disability Forum
Judiciary Committee
Welfare Committee
Renumeration Committee
Law Reform Committee
Public Interest Litigation Committee
Finance Committee
Nba Stabilization Fund Committee
Secretariat Restructuring Committee
Corporate Counsel Forum
Young Lawyers Forum Caretaker Committee
Young Lawyers Forum Advisory Board
CAC Task Force

The Chairmen of the above mentioned Committees are hereby requested to kindly handover a formal and comprehensive report of the activities of their committees to the below-named staff of the NBA secretariat by close of business day on Friday 19th August 2022.

The President has also constituted a Transition Committee. This was contained in another letter sighted by Lawhauz

The letter reads thus;

DISSOLUTION OF ALL STANDING AND AD-HOC COMMITTEES OF THE ASSOCIATION AND CONSTITUTION OF NBA TRANSITION COMMITTEE

Dear Colleagues,

On the inauguration of the present leadership of the Nigerian Bar Association, and in the course of its duties, various Standing and Ad-hoc Committees were constituted to assist in the smooth running of the outgoing administration.

However, ahead of the expiration of the tenure of the outgoing administration, the NBA President on behalf of the National Executive Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association, has dissolved all standing and Ad-Hoc Committees of the Association, with the exception of the Technical Committee on Conference Planning and the Electoral Committee of The Nigerian Bar Association, and further constitutes a Transition Committee.
