NBA PRESIDENT CONGRATULATES NEWLY ELECTED NBA NATIONAL OFFICERS AND NBA REPRESENTATIVES TO THE GENERAL COUNCIL OF THE BAR

As you may be aware, the Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA), yesterday, 21 July 2024, officially declared the results of the NBA National Elections, which was held on 20 July 2024.

Accordingly, the following persons emerged winners and have been returned as members of the NBA National Executive Committee:

1. Mazi Afam Josiah Osigwe, SAN – President
2. Sebastine Anyia – 1st Vice-President
3. Mrs. Bolatumi Olasunbo Animashaun – 2nd Vice President
4. Mrs. Zainab Aminu Garba – 3rd Vice-President
5. Dr. Mobolaji Idris Ojibara – General Secretary
6. Mr. Henry Barnabas Ehi – Assistant General Secretary
7. Mrs. Blessing Imo Udofa-Poromon – Treasurer
8. Mr. Nyada Auta – Welfare Secretary
9. Mrs. Bridget Ijeoma Edokwe – Publicity Secretary
10. Miss. Ebiere Emmanuella Ekpese – Assistant Publicity Secretary

To this end, the NBA President, Mr. Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, OON, SAN,congratulates the NBA President-elect, Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, other newly elected National Officers and NBA Representatives at the General Council of the Bar on their victory at the polls. He describes their victory as a “call to service.”

Mr. Maikyau also congratulates all the candidates that participated at the polls. His words: “Their desire to serve in various positions is clear demonstration of their commitment to make sacrifices and continue to promote primary objectives of the Bar for the good of our members and the generality of the people. I am confident that, while they may not have succeeded in getting elected into the offices they contested for, their commitment to be Bar will remain undiluted, and will lend support to those who emerged winners in the quest to build a dynamic Bar.”

The NBA President further commends the ECNBA led by Mr. Oluseun Abimbola, SAN, for the integrity, transparency, efficiency, responsiveness and effectiveness, with which the committee carried out its constitutional mandate, leading to a free, fair and credible election through a process that was seamless and hitch free. According to the NBA President, “This election shall serve as a model not only for subsequent NBA elections, but a template that could be considered for the nation at large.”
