NBA President Announces Port Harcourt as Host for 2026 Annual General Conference

The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mazi Afam Osigwe, SAN, has announced Port Harcourt as the host city for the 2026 NBA Annual General Conference (AGC). He made the disclosure on Thursday during the Annual General Meeting segment of the ongoing 67th NBA-AGC in Enugu, noting that the city would host the conference “if all goes well.”

The announcement was met with a standing ovation, particularly from members of the NBA Port Harcourt Branch, as the city had initially been designated to host the 2025 edition before the event was relocated to Enugu following the state of emergency declared in Rivers State.

Osigwe also reaffirmed the Association’s commitment to public service, reiterating plans to establish a Welfare Pro Bono Fund and directing NBA branches to set up Pro Bono Help Desks, which will be staffed by members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). The initiative, he explained, is aimed at expanding access to justice across the country.

On security, the NBA President dismissed concerns over hosting the conference in the South-East, stressing that the 2025 AGC in Enugu had proceeded without any incidents or threats. He expressed gratitude to the Enugu State Government for its support and commended the Conference Planning Committee (CPC) for their role in ensuring the success of the conference.
