The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has resolved that the Association’s 2026 National Officers and General Council of the Bar (GCB) Elections will proceed as scheduled on Saturday, 18 July 2026.
The decision was reached during an Emergency Meeting of the Council held on Thursday, 16 July 2026, following extensive deliberations on the forthcoming elections.
As the highest decision-making organ of the Association between Annual General Meetings, the NEC comprises NBA Past Presidents, the President, the General Secretary, Branch Chairmen, Branch Secretaries, Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs), co-opted members, and other statutory representatives.
By reaffirming the approved electoral timetable, the Council underscored its commitment to conducting a credible and orderly electoral process in accordance with the Association’s constitutional provisions. It also called on all eligible members to participate peacefully in the elections while upholding the democratic values, integrity, and unity of the Nigerian Bar Association.
