The Planning Committee Chairman of the NBA Lagos Human Rights Summit, Mr. Olarenwaju Obadina, extended his gratitude to all volunteers who made the Summit a success. The Summit was the high point of the series of events in commemoration of the International Human Rights Day 2022 organized by the Nigerian Bar Association, Lagos Branch.

Details below;

On this auspicious occasion of the commemoration of the International Human Rights Day, I seize this opportunity to appreciate everyone who have made contributions and worked assiduously towards the success of the International Human Rights Day ( IHRD).

The call for volunteers to serve in the task of organising an event to mark the IHRD, made at a virtual meeting of the human rights committee brought together a team of selfless Human Rights Advocates passionate about the cause of humanity.

The planning committee have been up and doing from the time of conceptualisation of the theme, putting together the speakers and planning the stakeholders’ dialogue with the Nigeria Police force, as well as every other detail of the event . I am very grateful for the opportunity to lead a dynamic team of selfless Lawyers.

My profound gratitude goes to the Chairman of the NBA Lagos branch Mr. Ikechukwu Uwana for his support to the Human Rights Committee. I equally appreciate The Chairperson of the Human Rights Committee and Vice Chairperson NBA Lagos Mrs Abiye Tam-George for believing in us to organise this programme. Her unflinching supports and kind words of encouragement all through the formative stage, until this day cannot be overemphasized.

My heartfelt gratitude goes to the Keynote Speaker and our dearly esteemed Guest speakers for making time out of their respective very busy and tight schedules to speak at this event.

My profund appreciation goes to the Assistant Inspector General of Police Zone 2 Command. AIG Adeleke Adeyinka Bode. The Baales -in-Council and Chiefs of Etiosa LGA Lekki. For the robust stakeholders’dialouge and the warm welcome accorded the human rights committee during our engagement with them.

I cannot end this speech without giving sincere appreciation to all our sponsors and donors, most particularly The Honourable Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Dr Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa for his display of unprecedented generosity towards this event.

I appreciate everyone who made time to be at this event.

I am optimistic that the impact of the IHRD event will engender a positive predisposition to human rights.

Thank you all.
