The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Idemili Branch is set to commemorate International Women’s Day (IWD) 2025 with a thought-provoking webinar focused on gender empowerment and justice.
Esteemed legal practitioner, Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe, SAN, FCArb will headline the event, speaking on the theme “Empowering Women for a Just Future.” This session promises to inspire and equip participants with valuable insights on advancing women’s rights and fostering inclusivity within the legal profession and beyond.
Lateef is a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and a member of the Body of Benchers. A past chairman of the NBA Lagos Branch, he currently chairs its Finance Committee and has been a member of the NBA National Executive Council since 2019.
As the managing partner and head of dispute resolution at Sofunde, Osakwe, Ogundipe & Belgore, he specializes in commercial and tax litigation, as well as Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR). He has represented foreign entities in complex tax matters and previously served as the African Membership Officer of the IBA Taxation Committee.
A Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (UK), Lateef has held key positions within the institute, including Executive Committee member and Vice Chairman of the Training Faculty. He is also an Associate of the Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria (BRIPAN). Committed to pro bono advocacy, he provides legal aid to indigent litigants in criminal and public law matters.
