The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has set up the Adjudicature Review Committee (ARC) aimed at bolstering Nigeria’s judicial system. Dr. Sam Amadi, the former Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), has been appointed as the chairman of this new committee.
This development was revealed in a statement issued by Mazi Afam Osigwe, the Chairman of the NBA, and shared by Dr. Amadi on his X (formerly Twitter) handle on Saturday. The ARC is expected to focus on improving the efficiency, fairness, and effectiveness of Nigeria’s adjudication process.
“Thanks @afamosigwe and NBA for the honor of appointing me to chair this important committee to reshape the judiciary towards a justice-based adjudication that promotes democratic accountability,” Amadi posted on X.
According to the statement, Osigwe noted that the ARC will regularly review key appellate court cases, providing comprehensive analysis to address legal errors and contribute to jurisprudence that enhances democracy and justice in Nigeria.
The NBA President also tasked the committee with publishing the Nigeria Adjudicature Review quarterly and offering scholarly commentary on cases with significant socio-economic and political impacts.
