The National Officers Election Appeals Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has announced the expiration of the period for filing petitions arising from the 2026 NBA National Officers Election, confirming that the deadline officially closed on 27 July 2026.
In a notice signed by the Chairman, Adizua Chu-Chu Okoroafor, SAN, FBR, and the Secretary, Stella Omoikhefe Chidozie, Esq., the Committee stated that the announcement was made pursuant to the provisions of the Constitution of the Nigerian Bar Association, 2015 (as amended in 2025) and the approved post-election guidelines.
The Committee declared that no further petitions will be accepted beyond the stipulated deadline, bringing the petition filing stage of the electoral process to a close.
According to the notice, the Committee received a total of three (3) petitions within the prescribed period. It further assured all parties that each petition filed within time will be heard and determined within twenty-eight (28) days from the date of its receipt, in accordance with the NBA Constitution and the applicable rules governing election appeals.
The Committee also clarified that an earlier notice issued on the timeline for the hearing and determination of petitions had been corrected, while expressing appreciation to candidates and members of the Association for their cooperation throughout the post-election process.

NOTICE OF CLOSURE/EXPIRATION OF THE TIME ALLOWED FOR THE PRESENTATION OF PETITIONS TO THE NATIONAL OFFICERS ELECTION APPEALS COMMITTEE OF THE NIGERIAN BAR ASSOCIATION.
Pursuant to the provisions of the Constitution of the Nigerian Bar Association, 2015 (as amended in 2025), as well as the approved guidelines governing the post-election process, we wish to inform all candidates in the just concluded national Officers election of the Nigerian Bar Association that the time allowed for the presentation of petitions before the National Officers Elections Appeal Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association, officially closed on the 27th day of July, 2026.
TAKE NOTICE that the National Officers Election Appeals Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association, will no longer accept any petitions beyond the aforementioned deadline.
FURTHER TAKE NOTICE that as at the time of the publication of this notice, the National Officers Election Appeals Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association, received a total of three (3) petitions.
All petitions received within the prescribed period will be heard and determined within twenty-eight (28) days from the date of the receipt of the Petitions, in keeping with the provisions of the Constitution of the Nigerian Bar Association, 2015 (as amended in 2025), as well as the applicable rules of procedure. Our previous notice on the time frame for the hearing and determination of Petitions, stand corrected.
