NBA Celebrates First Female SAN Folake Solanke at 94

The Nigerian Bar Association on Sunday celebrated the first female Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Chief (Mrs.) Folake Solanke, SAN, CON, on her 94th birthday.

In a statement on Sunday signed by the President of the NBA, Afam Osigwe, the NBA described Solanke as “an icon of the legal profession, a trailblazer, and a woman whose life has redefined excellence at the Bar.”

The association noted that her elevation to the Inner Bar was “not merely a personal milestone; it was a historic breakthrough that opened doors, shattered barriers, and inspired generations of women in the legal profession to aspire boldly and achieve exceptionally.”

It added, “Through your courage, brilliance, and unwavering commitment to justice, you etched your name permanently in the annals of Nigeria’s legal history.”

The NBA stated that at 94, her life “stands as a testament to resilience, purpose, and enduring excellence,” noting that her contributions continue to inspire lawyers, particularly women.

“As you mark this extraordinary milestone, we celebrate a life of impact, a legacy of leadership, and a journey defined by grace and distinction,” the statement read.

It added, “May your years continue to be blessed with good health, peace, and the joy of witnessing the enduring influence of your remarkable legacy.”
