The National Assembly’s leadership pleaded with the 36 State Governors on Monday to approve the amendments Bills that were put before them in order to safeguard the ongoing Constitution Review process.

The request was made by Senate President Ahmad Lawan at the second “Distinguished Parliamentarians lecture series 2022” event, which was held in Abuja and was organized by the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS).

Femi Gbajabiamila gave a lecture with the topic “Delivering on our contract with Nigerians: Implementing the Legislative Agenda of the 9th House of Representatives – Progress, Challenges, and Way Forward.”

Gbajabiamila bemoaned the fact that the Constitution Review process had come to a standstill because the State Houses of Assembly would not pass the Bills.

Lawan appealed to Kaduna Governor Nasir El-Rufai, who was the Chairman of the event, to help the National Assembly to beg his Governor colleagues to facilitate the passage of the bills now before their Houses of Assembly.
