NANS Protest Assaults On Officials By FRSC Officers

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Lagos State condemned in strict terms and expressed its deepest outrage over unlawful assault on officials of the association by officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) at the Ijanikin Unit command.

‎While picketing the road safety’s Ijanikin command office, the students union body led by NANS zone D public relations officer, Eromidayo Isaiah displayed their anger about the events that led to assault of NANS south-west Public Relations Officer, the Financial Secretary of NANS JCC Lagos, and two other comrades who were physically assaulted, beaten, and humiliated by FRSC officers during a peaceful visit to the command.

‎It was said that nans officials were on a peaceful mission at the frsc office at Ijanikin to request for release of a student’s vehicle impounded since Thursday, July 31, 2025, which the officers allegedly insisted would only be released upon the payment of an illicit sum of ₦20,000.

‎The interaction led to a faceoff and during the process of the physical attack, the student union leaders sustained some injuries and their phones were damaged.

‎Nans officials classified the assault as a direct violation of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), Chapter IV, which guarantees the fundamental human rights of all citizens and demand investigations into matter and sanctions of those found culpable.
