N2.4TRN Project Implementation: Reps Ask AGF To Provide Details

The House of Representatives has directed the Accountant-General of the Federation, Shamseldeen Ogunjimi, to provide a detailed spreadsheet of payments made to contractors under the N2.4 trillion government approval for project implementation.

This demand followed confirmation from the Office of the Accountant-General that N2.4 trillion had already been approved for disbursement.

Deputy Speaker Hon. Benjamin Kalu, said this after a meeting with the Association of Indigenous Contractors of Nigeria in Abuja. The session followed earlier protests over delayed payments, which led to a partial settlement of 25% in September.

The parliament also tasked contractors to ensure authenticity of executed projects, warning against payments for incomplete or non-existent works.

In another development, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, has called for stronger parliamentary diplomacy between Nigeria and Cuba, stressing the need for tangible outcomes such as MoUs, ratified agreements, and funded programmes.

Speaking in Abuja while receiving a Cuban delegation led by Hon. Fernando González Llort, Tajudeen, represented by Deputy Speaker Hon. Benjamin Kalu urged collaboration in medical exchanges, academics, research, and investments.

He emphasized partnerships that ensure technology transfer, protect intellectual property, and build local value chains, while Cuban Ambassador Miriam Morales Palmer and Hon. Fernando Llort praised existing ties and pledged deeper cooperation.
