The historic city of Ilorin, Kwara State, plays host to this year’s Annual General Conference of the Muslim Lawyers’ Association of Nigeria (MULAN), bringing together legal minds from across the nation under the theme: “Artificial Intelligence, Law and Religion in Nigeria.” The conference sets the stage for robust discourse on the intersection of rapidly evolving technology and enduring religious and legal principles—an area increasingly relevant in today’s digital world.

I warmly welcome all delegates to the MULAN Conference and I extend my congratulations to the National Executive Committee and all members of the Muslim Lawyers’ Association of Nigeria (MULAN), on the occasion of our Annual General Conference holding in the calm and historic city of Ilorin, Kwara State.
The theme this year—“Artificial Intelligence, Law and Religion in Nigeria”—is not only timely but deeply important. As AI continues to shape our world, it’s essential that we reflect on how it fits into our legal system and aligns with our values as Muslims. This conference offers a great opportunity to have those honest conversations, share knowledge, and learn from one another.
We are at a point where our faith and technology must speak to each other, not compete. I pray that Allah (SWT) blesses our deliberations with wisdom and clarity, and that the outcomes help strengthen justice, ethics, and national development.
Wishing MULAN continued unity, growth, and impact.
Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe, SAN, FCIArb(UK)
