A woman, Mrs. Lola Muniratu Disu and her son, Ahmed Olasunkanmi Disu, have been remanded at the Correctional Centre at Kirikiri town in Lagos State for allegedly forging a Court order and stealing office property valued at over N122 million belonging to Uccas Resources Ltd.

It was the order of the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, which ordered the remand of the defendants in custody after they were arraigned before the Court.

The Presiding Judge, Justice Abimbola Awogboro, ordered that the defendants be remanded in custody after the Police charged them on a 14-count charge of conspiracy and stealing under the Criminal Laws of the State.

The Police had alleged that the defendants and others at-large on 25th June, 2021 at 16 Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway, Mangoro Bus Stop, Ikeja Lagos, conspired amongst themselves to steal the property belonging to Uccas Resources Limited represented by its Managing Director, Ukata Christian.

The defendants were also accused of forging a Court order with the inscription ‘possession taken by Court order” on June 25, 2021, with the intent that it would be used against Uccas Resources Ltd and its Managing Director.

The Police alleged that the defendants ejected the complainant and allegedly stole from different sections of the company some properties, which included computers, office chairs and table, air-conditioners, printers, scanners, copiers, industrial water filters, heaps of undistributed copies of cargo news publication, confidential documents, midgets, internet routers, 2.9kva generator, fans and others worth N122m.

The Police alleged that the offences are punishable under Section 390 (8)(c)&(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap. C38, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004 (as amended), which attracts several years of imprisonment.

However, they pleaded not guilty.

The Presiding Judge, Justice Awogboro, subsequently ordered them remanded in prison pending the hearing and determination of their bail application.

He adjourned the matter for hearing of their bail applications.
