Senator Ihenyen – Moderator

Senator Ihenyen is the Lead Partner at Infusion Lawyers, specializing in law and technology. With extensive experience in data protection, privacy, and blockchain regulation, he is a leading voice in Nigeria’s tech law landscape.

A former President of the Secure Blockchain Association of Nigeria (SiBAN), Senator has been instrumental in advancing the legal framework for blockchain and fintech in the country. He authored the Data Protection Overview for Nigeria (2016) and contributed to the ICLG to Data Protection 2019 (Nigeria Chapter), shaping the regulatory landscape for data privacy.

Senator also chairs the Intellectual Property Committee of NBA-SBL and the IP Working Group of the NBA-SBL Steering Committee to PEBEC. He is highly sought after as a speaker and moderator on technology law and regulatory matters, and his work has made a significant impact on Nigeria’s evolving tech law ecosystem.

Olumide Babalola – Lead Speaker
Olumide Babalola is a leading privacy and data protection lawyer and a PhD researcher at the University of Portsmouth, UK, where he focuses on privacy law within Nigerian jurisprudence. Olumide is also a lecturer at the University of Manchester and serves on CODATA’s International Data Policy Committee.

Olumide has a remarkable track record in data protection litigation, having represented clients in Nigeria’s first appellate decision on data protection. He is the author of several influential works, including the book Privacy and Data Protection Law in Nigeria, and has contributed to top international law journals on privacy law and data governance.

A co-founder of both The Privacy Academy and the Digital Rights Lawyers Initiative, Olumide has played a key role in advancing privacy law education and advocacy across Africa. His work on data governance has significantly shaped the discourse on privacy, data protection, and digital rights in Nigeria and beyond.
