Mr. Etomi is the Principal Partner of George Etomi & Partners, and one of Nigeria’s most accomplished transaction lawyers. Over the course of his remarkable career, he has advised multinational corporations, leading financial institutions, and government agencies on complex corporate and commercial transactions across sectors including aviation, banking and finance, energy, construction, arbitration, and project finance.
He played a significant role in advising on some of Nigeria’s most notable commercial developments, including acting for the first mobile telephone service in Nigeria and advising major foreign airlines operating in the country. His expertise has also been instrumental in the energy and power sectors, where he supported investors during the acquisition and concession of successor companies in Nigeria’s power privatisation process and provided strategic legal advisory services to both government and core investors.
Mr. Etomi has also worked extensively with multinational oil companies and maintains a strong interest in energy and natural resources law. Beyond his legal practice, he contributes to corporate governance and regulatory leadership, serving as Chairman of the Claims Review Panel of the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX) and Chairman of the largest indigenous oil and gas company in Ghana.
A respected leader within the Nigerian legal profession, Mr. Etomi is the first past Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association Section on Business Law, a Life Bencher of the Body of Benchers, and a Trustee of the Nigerian Bar Association. In recognition of his exceptional contributions to the legal profession and national development, he was awarded the National Productivity Order of Merit (NPOM) in 2014. The Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies also honoured him by establishing the George Etomi Centre for Strategic Investment and Corporate Governance.
