Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin and other stakeholders in the legal profession have stressed the importance of justice as the bedrock of development in any society.
They spoke recently during the launching of a compendium of judgments delivered by Justice Afolabi Adeniran (Rtd.) titled:
“The Flow of the Fountain of Justice” and birthday lectures in honour of the legal icon to commemorate his positive impacts at the bar as a lawyer and on the bench as a judge.
The event, which held at the Jogor Centre, Ibadan, attracted bigwigs in the legal profession, royal fathers and political leaders, including Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin and others.
The Oyo State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Oyelowo Oyewo (SAN), who represented Makinde, described the celebrant as a team player with a reputation of hard work.
The governor said his administration would continue to uphold the independence of the judiciary.
“Oyo State Government has a high respect for members of the bar and the bench for their selfless services to the State
“The present administration in Oyo State upholds the independence of the judiciary and does not interfere with judicial matters,” Makinde said.
Hon. Musah Abdulwasi, who represented the Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin, said: “The Oyo State House of Assembly will remain a partner in progress with members of the Bar and the Bench.”
The event was attended by the former military Governor of Oyo and Lagos States, Major General Oladayo Popoola (Rtd) as the Chairman of the event; the Oyo State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Muktar Abilbola (represented by Hon. Justice Ladiran Akintola); Director General, Oyo State Joint Security Task Force (Operation Burst), Col. Oladipo Ajibola (Rtd) and former Chief Judge of Oyo State, Hon. Justice Badejoko Adeniji (Rtd).
