Lawyers Protest as Missing Billionaire’s Case Stalls Due to Judge’s Absence

Several lawyers, some of whom had traveled from outside the state, expressed their dissatisfaction after learning at the last minute from the court clerk that the proceedings would not take place. They lamented that they had not been informed in advance of the presiding judge’s absence and had spent scarce resources to attend the hearing.

Ezemma, the Managing Director of Dubai Estate, Awka, has been missing since November 12, 2024, with his whereabouts still unknown, sparking widespread speculation and legal battles. The case involves Ozo Jeff Nweke, CEO of Mango and Lion Properties Ltd, who, alongside others, is charged with allegedly kidnapping Ezemma under Charge No: AWK/6c/2025.

Amid the courtroom delay, some leaders from the Ezinano community in Awka spoke out, dismissing the allegations against Nweke. They claimed that the accusations were part of a smear campaign led by a rival community involved in a land dispute. One community leader stated, “This is pure mischief. They are using this case to tarnish the image of our illustrious son.”

The court’s failure to proceed only heightened tensions, leaving all parties waiting for further developments in the case.
