The NBA Kaduna Branch hosted its 2025 Annual Law Week, bringing together legal professionals, thought leaders, and scholars for a week of insightful discussions on strengthening the legal profession in Nigeria. A key highlight of the event was the presentation by Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe, SAN, FCIArb (UK), former Chairman of the NBA Lagos Branch, who delivered a compelling paper on the transformative role of technology in modern legal practice.
Addressing a packed audience of legal minds, Akangbe emphasized that the future of legal technology is no longer on the horizon—it is now the present. He urged Nigerian lawyers and law firms to embrace digital innovation, invest in continuous learning, and leverage tools such as AI to enhance legal research, strategic analysis, and client engagement. His message resonated strongly with attendees and was met with enthusiastic feedback, culminating in an award of recognition presented to him by the NBA Kaduna Branch.

On the 24th of June 2025, I had the distinct honour of joining the distinguished members of the NBA Kaduna Branch at their Annual Law Week, an event steeped in reflection, professional discourse, and renewed commitment to justice delivery.
I delivered a paperwith a clear message: The future of technology is no longer a remote prospect. It has become our present reality. As cliché as this sounds, this is now our reality. Law firms across the globe are moving from manual databases to digital databases, from long manual researches to AI-powered and guided researches. Technology is no longer an option but a necessity for modern legal practice. Lawyers and law firms in Nigeria must make strategic investments in technology and continuous learning, allowing them to focus on complex legal analysis, strategic thinking, and the human connection with clients.”
The session was robust, the audience deeply engaging, and the feedback incredibly humbling. I was particularly honoured to receive an award of recognition from the NBA Kaduna Branch a gesture that underscores the shared commitment we all have to elevating the legal profession in Nigeria.
The theme, “Strengthening the Bar and Bench Collaboration: A Pathway to Professional Discipline and Justice Delivery in Nigeria,” could not have been more timely. I left Kaduna inspired by the warmth of the welcome and the richness of the conversations.
Thank you to the NBA Kaduna Branch for the kind invitation and for making it a truly memorable and meaningful experience.
