Former Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Lagos Branch, Lateef Omoyemi Akangbe, SAN, FCIArb(UK), recently hosted a delegation from the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria in a strategic meeting aimed at advancing the empowerment of female lawyers across the country. During the meeting, both parties explored innovative approaches to strengthen the participation and visibility of female lawyers within the NBA and the broader legal ecosystem. Akangbe emphasized the importance of building a supportive network that champions gender equity and ensures that women lawyers have the resources and opportunities needed to thrive. He reaffirmed his commitment to fostering a more inclusive and progressive legal community that reflects the diversity and strength of Nigeria’s legal profession.

It was a privilege to host a delegation from the International Federation of Women Lawyers (FIDA) Nigeria. We had a productive discussion on empowering female lawyers in Nigeria, focusing on strategies to enhance their professional growth, build excellence, and identified opportunities for growth and empowerment.
We explored innovative approaches to promote mentorship, leadership development, and networking opportunities for women in law, as well as initiatives to foster a more inclusive and supportive environment within the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
As we strive for a more inclusive NBA, it is essential that we listen to, support, and advocate for the needs and concerns of all members particularly female lawyers who are making significant contributions to the legal profession.
By working together, we can create a more equitable and thriving legal community that benefits everyone.
