Lagos Govt Vows To Sanction Fuel Stations Adding Charges To PoS Transactions

The Lagos State Government has advised fuel station operators against adding on additional fees to sales made through Point of Sale (PoS) devices for transactions, warning that violators will face appropriate sanctions.

Afolabi Solebo, the general manager of the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency (LASCOPA), announced this on Friday in Lagos.

As a result of numerous consumer complaints about unauthorized charges made by some business outlets, particularly filling stations, he issued a warning to fuel attendants and business owners to cease all forms of extra charges resulting from the use of PoS machines for transactions.

”The agency is concerned with the rising consumer feedback by motorists and consumers of PMS product particularly.

”We will continue to monitor this sensitive and evolving situation and remain committed to the protection of consumers in Lagos State”, he said
