The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Kwara State Chapter, has issued a seven-day strike notice to the state government over its failure to implement the Consolidated Judicial Salary Structure (CONJUSS).
In a letter dated August 18, 2025, and addressed to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the union accused the government of neglecting the welfare of judiciary workers despite several reminders. The letter, signed by the state chairman, Habeer A. Yusuf, recalled earlier communications acknowledged on May 30 and again on July 8, which received no response.
The union warned that if the government does not comply with its demand for immediate implementation of CONJUSS by Monday, August 25, judiciary workers across the state will embark on an indefinite strike.
Yusuf stressed that the continuous denial of judicial autonomy undermines the independence of the courts. He noted that such neglect is no longer acceptable and vowed that the union would not back down until their demands are met.
JUSUN further cautioned that the planned strike would halt judicial proceedings and cripple the state’s legal system.
The statement reaffirmed the union’s position, declaring that the implementation of CONJUSS is non-negotiable and that Kwara judiciary workers are prepared to take decisive action if the government fails to act within the notice period.
