Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has publicly expressed his support for the nationwide protest against economic hardship, scheduled to begin on August 1, 2024.
He assured peaceful demonstrators of his backing and committed to personally receiving them at the Government House on Thursday.
During a stakeholders’ meeting at the Government House on Wednesday, Governor Yusuf highlighted the democratic right of Nigerians to protest. He urged the youth to ensure their demonstrations remain peaceful and orderly.
“For us, protest is a democratic right of every citizen. I want the protesters to carry out their procession with caution, as some criminal elements plan to hijack the protest. If you embark on a peaceful procession, I will receive you, and if you wish, I’ll join you.”
