Kano CP Orders Probe into Alleged Lawyer’s Assault

The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, has ordered a discreet investigation into allegations of unlawful seizure of wristwatches, assault, and the theft of N950,000 allegedly committed by officials of Kano Road Traffic Agency.

It was revealed that Abdulwahab Abdullahi and other officials of the Road Traffic Agency allegedly committed the offence against a Kano-based private legal practitioner, Ahmad Sani Bawa.

The lawyer had submitted a petition to the Kano Commissioner of Police through 10 legal representatives, led by Barrister Fengak Obadiah Gokir.

The Kano Command’s spokesman, SP Abdullahi Haruna, confirmed receipt of the petition on Saturday, stating that the complainant, in line with the Commissioner’s directive, has been invited and has already provided a written statement.

He added that the suspects – Abdulwahab Abdullahi and other officers of the Kano Road Traffic Agency – were invited on Monday to have their statements recorded.

Meanwhile, the Public Relations Officer of KAROTA, Abubakar Sharada, also confirmed that the petition had been received and assured the public that the agency would disclose the facts of the incident upon completion of the investigation.
