Justice Vault Foundation Leads Powerful Road Walk Against Child Labour On The Streets of Obalende Lagos, June 13, 2025

On the 13th of June 2025, the streets of Lagos came alive with purpose and passion as the Justice Vault Foundation held a powerful road walk to mark the United Nations World Day Against Child Labour. With the theme “Say No to Child Labour – Protect Our Future”, the event drew together advocates and volunteers to raise awareness and inspire action against the growing menace of child labour.

The walk kicked off at the Lagos State High Court, Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), where participants gathered in solidarity, donning matching shirts, carrying placards, and chanting messages of hope and justice. The march progressed through Obalende, weaving through its vibrant streets, drawing the attention of passersby, shop owners, commuters, and residents.

Accompanied by upbeat music and a spirit of resilience, the event also featured powerful public speeches delivered during the walk. The speakers passionately addressed the crowd, shedding light on the dangers and long-term consequences of child labour including its impact on education, physical and mental health, and the overall development of children.

In her remarks, Ifeoma Ben the founder of the Foundation emphasized that childhood is a time for learning, growing, and dreaming not for hardship and exploitation. She urged individuals to take responsibility in protecting children’s rights, adding that the fight against child labour is a collective duty.

The event was not just a walk, it was a movement. A movement to engage the community, challenge the status quo, and advocate for stronger legal protections and social support systems that prioritize the well-being of children.

By taking the message to the streets, the Justice Vault Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to justice, equity, and the protection of vulnerable children. The message was clear: our children deserve a future, and that future must be protected  today.
