Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia has been reinstated as a Judge of the Federal High Court by the National Judicial Council (NJC).
This was contained in a Circular sighted by LAWHAUZ dated December 2, 2022 and signed by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Hon. Justice Olukayode Ariwoola.
In the letter, the Chief Justice of Nigeria notified the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of this decision after a meeting with the National Judicial Council.
All charges against her have been quashed and the reinstatement takes effect immediately.
It reads thus,
“With reference to your Lordships letter dated 29th November 2021 and a reminder dated 12th October, 2022 requesting for your new statement in office as a Judge of the Federal High Court and payment of your outstanding salaries and emolument, potions to do orders by the federal High Court in your favour in suit No. FHC/ABJ/CS/638/2018 and charge No. FHC/L/139C/2019.”
“The National Judicial Council at its meeting which was held on 1st December 2022 celebrated on the subject matter and confirmed the decision of the federal High Court in the matter.”
“Consequently Council decided to Institute Office as a Judicial Officer with immediate effect. For them all your outstanding salaries and allowances from 6th November 2018 when you were supposedly dismissed from service will be paid in full, please.”
Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia was charged by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) with money laundering and violation of public trust in November 2016.
