JAMB Admits Errors in 2025 UTME, Addresses Score Discrepancies

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has acknowledged errors in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), following widespread complaints about discrepancies in candidates’ scores.

During a press briefing in Abuja on Wednesday, JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, expressed regret over the issues, stating, “What should have been a moment of joy has changed due to one or two errors.” He admitted that despite rigorous preparations, the board encountered glitches that affected the examination process.

The admission comes amid reports of poor performance in the recently concluded UTME, with 78 percent of candidates scoring below 200 out of the maximum 400 points. JAMB noted an unusually high number of complaints regarding score inconsistencies, prompting the board to investigate.

Prof. Oloyede assured candidates that JAMB is actively identifying glitches and will implement remedial measures promptly to address any confirmed issues. The board urged affected candidates to remain patient as it works to resolve the discrepancies.

This development has sparked concerns among stakeholders, with calls for improved systems to ensure the integrity of future examinations. JAMB reiterated its commitment to transparency and fairness in the admission process.
